Media Report Day 1

Judge Waldram was presented to the court room at 1:01 pm this afternoon, initiating day 1 of Andrews v. Springville. The case’s first witness, Ericka James, a 30 year old girls’ athletic coach at the Butler Preparatory Academy, was questioned by plaintiff lawyer Paulina Peranteau first. Simple questions were asked and the witness was passed onto defendant lawyer, Samuel Gautsch. In this questioning, confusion arose, which was cleared up by plaintiff lawyer Diane Segura in the re-direct examination, which was finalized with witness questioning from defendant lawyer Sam Gautsch once again. The plaintiff’s second witness, Lynn Andrews, the protagonist of this case, was called up and questioned back and forth between plaintiff and defendant lawyers in the witness and cross examinations. The case’s third witness was called up, Robert Andrews, Lynn’s father, as plaintiff’s final witness. Very prepared, the witness’s examination was quick and to the point between plaintiff lawyer Anthony Trinh and defendant lawyer Sam Gautsch. The last witness of the day, and defendant’s first witness, Ted Sellers was called to the stand. As captain of the boys’ soccer team, he was shortly questioned by defendant lawyer Sam Gautsch before court was adjourned and scheduled for the next day.

Media Report Day 2

Judge Waldram was presented to the court room at 1:01 pm this afternoon, initiating day 2 of Andrews v. Springville. The case’s fourth witness and the defendant’s first witness was called up once again. Ted Sellers faced a difficult questioning in which he was tossed around between defendant and plaintiff lawyers four times. To finalize the day, the case’s fifth witness Martin Wrobel was called to the stand. Questioned about Title IX guidelines and his meeting with Robert Andrews, he was also tossed around in the examination, scheduling a third day for the case.

Media Report Day 3

Judge Waldram was presented to the court room at 12:25 pm this afternoon, initiating day 3 of Andrews v. Springville. The case’s and the defendant’s final witness, Raymond Hartley, the boys’ athletic coach at Lincoln High School, was called to the stand. Amazingly, he was only questioned by defendant lawyer Sam Gautsch and the case transitioned into the closing statements of both sides. Plaintiff lawyers Paulina Peranteau and Diane Segura stood before the jury and made a very emotional appeal. Lastly, Sam Gautsch stood before the jury alone and made a straight forward and strongly evidenced appeal. Court was adjourned and the decision of this case was left in the hands of the jury.
